Overview
The Bar 1000MK2 is a soundbar system from the second-generation JBL Bar series, which HARMAN announced in June 2025 for jbl.com. A 10-inch wireless subwoofer and two detachable, battery-powered surround speakers are in the box. The bar is 854 mm wide, 52 mm high and 128 mm deep (1203 mm wide with the surround speakers docked), comes in black and can be wall-mounted with the kit in the box.
JBL lists six racetrack drivers, two 1-inch tweeters and two 2.75-inch up-firing drivers in the bar, and racetrack and up-firing drivers in the surround speakers: 500 W for the bar, 2 x 80 W for the surrounds and 300 W for the subwoofer, 960 W maximum in total. The surround speakers run up to 10 hours on their batteries and recharge when docked. The TV connects over HDMI eARC or optical, and three HDMI inputs take consoles and players. Over dual-band Wi-Fi the bar supports AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Amazon Music, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready; Bluetooth, Ethernet and a USB port (MP3 playback on US units) are also built in. Setup runs through the JBL One app. It has no built-in voice assistant.
What the specs mean
- 7.1.4 channels: seven channels from the bar and surround speakers plus the subwoofer, with height from up-firing drivers in the bar and in the surround speakers, widened by JBL's MultiBeam 3.0 processing. JBL's spec sheet says 7.1.4; HARMAN's launch release table says 7.4.1.
- Dolby Atmos and DTS:X: both object-based 3D formats are decoded, plus Dolby Digital.
- Night listening: the surround speakers go in front of you and the bar and subwoofer mute, so you can listen late without disturbing others.
- HDMI eARC: the enhanced Audio Return Channel sends the TV's sound to the soundbar over one HDMI cable, with enough bandwidth for Dolby Atmos.
- 4K passthrough (HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HDCP 2.3): sources on the three HDMI inputs pass their 4K HDR picture on to the TV.
- PureVoice 2.0: JBL's dialogue enhancement raises the dialogue based on the scene and the volume.
- Room correction: the sound calibration adapts the surround effect to how sound reflects off the room.
- TV remote: over HDMI-CEC the TV remote controls the bar, and it can also learn IR commands from a TV remote.

|---|---|---|---|
| Overall value A rough features-for-the-price score, compared with every soundbar listed. Bars gain points for things like Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi and room tuning, and lose points without them. Dolby Atmos with up-firing speakers earns more than virtual Atmos. Cheaper bars lose fewer points, or none, for missing premium extras (Dolby Atmos, HDMI eARC, up-firing speakers). 100 is the best deal listed. Based on specs only, not on how it sounds. | 81 | 81 | 80 |
| Price-band value Like Overall value, but each soundbar is compared only with soundbars in its own price band: up to $300, $300–500, $500–800, $800–1,200 or over $1,200. 100 is the best deal in that band. Based on specs only, not on how it sounds. | 88$800–1,200 | 88$800–1,200 | 87$800–1,200 |
