MagniFi Mini

Overview

The MagniFi Mini is Polk Audio's ultra-compact soundbar. The bar is only 341 mm wide, 79 mm high and 108 mm deep, weighs 1.76 kg and comes in black.

It has six drivers, two 0.5-inch tweeters and four 2.25-inch drivers, and comes with a wireless subwoofer with a 6.5-inch driver (188 mm wide, 368 mm high and 366 mm deep). Polk lists 150 W of total system power and a frequency response of 40 Hz to 24 kHz.

The TV connects over HDMI ARC, optical or the 3.5 mm analog input. Wi-Fi with Google Cast and Bluetooth stream music from a phone or tablet. Polk lists Movie, Music and Sport modes and a Night mode that lowers the bass and raises dialogue; the remote has separate master, bass and VoiceAdjust volume controls. Polk says it works with TV, cable box and satellite IR remotes, so one remote can run both.

The box contains a 2 m HDMI cable, a 1.8 m optical cable, a 1.8 m aux cable, the IR remote with two AAA batteries, the power cables for the bar and subwoofer, and the quick start guide.

What the specs mean

• 5.1 speaker setup: the 5.1 is Polk's Dolby Digital 5.1 decoding. There are no separate center or rear speakers: Polk's surround processing creates the surround effect from the six drivers in the bar, and the ".1" is the wireless subwoofer in the box.
• HDMI ARC: the Audio Return Channel sends the TV's sound to the soundbar over the included HDMI cable.
• No HDMI passthrough: the MagniFi Mini has no HDMI input, so a console or streaming box connects to the TV, and the TV sends the sound on over HDMI ARC.
• Audio formats: Polk lists Dolby Digital 5.1 decoding.
• Expandability: none; Polk does not list wireless surround speakers or another subwoofer for this model.
