S60T

Overview

The HW-S60T is a 2020 all-in-one soundbar from Samsung's S-Series. It is 764 mm wide, 68 mm high and 125 mm deep, comes in black, and can be wall-mounted with the wall mount kit in the box.

It is a 4.0 system with no subwoofer in the box. Samsung lists six speakers: side horn speakers, Acoustic Beam up-firing speakers, a hole-array wide range tweeter and a built-in woofer.

The TV connects over HDMI ARC with the included HDMI cable, or over optical. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) connect phones and the home network. Over Wi-Fi it works with Spotify and the SmartThings app on iOS and Android, and Alexa is built in. The box also contains the remote control with batteries, a wall mount template, the power adapter and cable, and the manuals.

Samsung lists the sound modes Adaptive, Music and Standard, plus Auto AV Sync. The bar is controlled with the included remote or the touch buttons on the bar, and Samsung lists One Remote Control support.

What the specs mean

• 4.0 speaker setup: four channels and no subwoofer channel. The built-in woofer sits inside the bar.
• HDMI ARC: the Audio Return Channel sends the TV's sound to the soundbar over the HDMI cable; Samsung lists HDMI-CEC for control.
• Audio formats: Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround and LPCM. Samsung lists 5.1 decoding for both Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround.
• No HDMI passthrough: the bar has no HDMI input, so a streaming box or console connects to the TV, which sends the sound back over HDMI ARC.
• Wireless subwoofer and surrounds: Samsung's SWA-W500 wireless subwoofer and the SWA-8500S, SWA-9000S and SWA-9100S wireless rear speaker kits work with the HW-S60T.
