Alto 6+

Overview

The Alto 6+ (model TS6110) is part of TCL's 2020 Alto soundbar range. The bar is 800 mm wide, 62 mm high and 107 mm deep, comes in black, and can be wall-mounted with the wall mount kit in the box. It uses the same bar size as the Alto 6 and adds a wireless subwoofer.

It is a 2.1 system: the bar has two 1.75 x 3.94 inch racetrack drivers, and the subwoofer, which is included, has a 5.25 inch driver and connects over 2.4 GHz wireless. TCL lists a maximum audio power of 120 W for the bar and 120 W for the subwoofer, and three sound modes: Music, TV and Movie.

The inputs are HDMI ARC, optical, a 3.5 mm AUX line-in, USB (MP3 and FLAC playback) and Bluetooth 4.2. The box contains the subwoofer, two power cords, an HDMI cable, an optical cable, the remote control with two AAA batteries, the wall mount brackets, anchors and screws, a wall mount template and the printed leaflets. The bar has five touch keys (power, Bluetooth, input, volume up and down), one LED for the input and four for the sound modes.

The Alto 6+ is Roku TV Ready: connected to a Roku TV over HDMI, it is set up from the TV and its volume and sound settings can be adjusted with the Roku TV remote.

What the specs mean

• 2.1 speaker setup: two main channels plus a subwoofer channel. The ".1" is the wireless subwoofer in the box, which needs only a power socket, no cable to the bar.
• HDMI ARC: the TV sends its sound to the bar over the included HDMI cable. Optical and 3.5 mm AUX are alternatives for TVs without ARC.
• Audio formats: Dolby Digital, the surround format used by most TV broadcasts, DVDs and streaming apps. The bar decodes it and plays it on its 2.1 channels.
• No HDMI passthrough: the bar has no HDMI input, so consoles and streaming boxes connect to the TV.
• Bluetooth: lets a phone or tablet play music on the bar without a cable. There is no Wi-Fi.
