5.1 Soundbar SV510M-0806

Overview

The 5.1 Soundbar SV510M-0806 is part of VIZIO's 2024 soundbar line. The bar is 838.2 mm wide, 58.9 mm high and 82 mm deep and weighs 2.3 kg. It comes with a wireless subwoofer and two low-profile surround speakers (125 x 58.9 x 82 mm each). The bar can be wall-mounted with the included template, or attached to the underside of a QuickFit-compatible VIZIO TV with the two QuickFit thumb screws in the box.

VIZIO lists six speakers. The bar has three 42.3 x 70.3 mm full-range drivers (left, centre and right), with a dedicated centre channel for dialogue; each surround speaker has one more, and the subwoofer has one 5-inch (127 mm) driver. VIZIO lists three listening modes: Movie, Music and Direct.

The bar has one HDMI eARC port to the TV, Bluetooth 5.2 and a USB port for playing .WAV and .MP3 files. There is no HDMI input, optical input, Wi-Fi or voice assistant. The box contains the soundbar, the subwoofer, the two surround speakers with their audio cables, the HDMI cable, two power cables, a wall mount template, cable management straps, wall mount brackets and screws for the surround speakers, the QuickFit screws and the setup guide.

No remote is included: the bar wakes up with the TV and follows the TV remote for power, volume and mute, and it has buttons of its own. The VIZIO Mobile app (VIZIO account required) adjusts settings such as bass, treble and dialogue level, and installs system updates. VIZIO lists ClearDialog for all its 2024 soundbars.

What the specs mean

• 5.1 speaker setup: five main channels (left, centre, right and two surrounds) plus a subwoofer channel. The centre channel in the bar carries most of the dialogue.
• Wireless subwoofer, wired surrounds: the subwoofer connects to the bar wirelessly and needs mains power. The two surround speakers are not wireless: they plug into the subwoofer with the included colour-coded cables, so no cable has to run from the TV to the back of the room.
• Front Surround Mode: when the surround speakers cannot go behind the seats, the manual shows them placed at the front next to the bar, and DTS Virtual:X then creates a virtual surround effect.
• HDMI eARC: the TV sends its sound to the soundbar over the included HDMI cable, and the TV remote controls the bar over the same cable. eARC can carry lossless formats such as Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos and uncompressed multichannel audio from TVs that support it.
• Dolby Atmos and DTS:X: the system decodes both immersive formats. It has no height speakers; DTS Virtual:X is also listed, which processes the sound to give a sense of height without extra speakers.
• No HDMI passthrough: there is no HDMI input on the bar, so a console or streaming box connects to the TV, and the TV passes the sound back to the bar over eARC.
