Overview
The S60TR is a 5.1-channel home theater soundbar. The soundbar, a wireless subwoofer and two rear speakers come in the box, together with a remote, batteries, an optical cable and a wall-mount bracket. The soundbar is 850 mm wide, 63 mm high and 87 mm deep and can be wall-mounted.
The rear speakers connect to the soundbar wirelessly. They are wired up with the supplied speaker cable and need a power outlet.
Connections are an HDMI ARC port to the TV, an optical input, a USB port for music files and Bluetooth. There is no HDMI input and no Wi-Fi. You can control it from the remote, the buttons on the bar, the LG ThinQ app for iOS and Android, or an LG TV remote over SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC). LG also sells the S6FTR with the same soundbar size and connections; its manual lists no DTS support, a simpler remote and fewer sound modes.
What the specs mean
- 5.1 speaker setup: five main channels and one subwoofer channel, counting the included subwoofer and rear speakers. There are no height channels.
- HDMI ARC: the Audio Return Channel carries the TV's sound to the soundbar over one HDMI cable. There is no HDMI input, so there is no video passthrough.
- Audio formats: Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround and LPCM.
- Clear Voice and Night Time: Clear Voice makes voices clearer. Night Time lowers the overall volume but raises soft sounds.
- LG TV features: WOW Orchestra plays sound through the LG TV and the soundbar at the same time (HDMI connection only). WOW Interface and TV Sound Mode Share are also listed.
