Overview

HW-Q600B is a black 2022 Samsung Q-series soundbar with a wireless subwoofer in the box. The soundbar is 1030 mm wide, 57 mm high and 105 mm deep and can be wall-mounted; the wall-mount brackets are included.

Samsung lists 9 speakers and 360 W of total power for the bar and subwoofer, with up-firing speakers that Samsung calls Acoustic Beam.

The TV connects over HDMI eARC. One HDMI input passes 4K video with HDR10+ through to the TV, and there is also an optical input, a USB port and Bluetooth. The bar has no Wi-Fi, so there is no app control, AirPlay or built-in voice assistant. Samsung lists Q-Symphony, which plays sound through the TV speakers and the soundbar together on select 2021 and 2022 Samsung TVs connected over HDMI.

You can control it with the buttons on the bar, the included remote or the TV remote.

What the specs mean

• 3.1.2 speaker setup: three main channels (left, centre, right), one subwoofer channel and two height channels. The height channels come from up-firing speakers that bounce sound off the ceiling, which is how the bar plays Dolby Atmos and DTS:X with sound from above.
• Wireless rear speakers (optional): Samsung lists the SWA-9200S and SWA-9100S rear speaker kits as compatible. They connect wirelessly to the bar.
• HDMI eARC: the enhanced Audio Return Channel sends the TV's sound to the soundbar over one HDMI cable, including high-bitrate formats such as Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos and uncompressed multichannel audio.
• HDMI passthrough: a console or streaming box can plug into the HDMI input; the bar passes 4K video with HDR10+ on to the TV.
• Audio formats: Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby MAT, DTS:X, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, DTS 96/24, DTS-ES, DTS Digital Surround and multichannel PCM.
