Overview
Beam Ultra is the mid-size Sonos Dolby Atmos soundbar announced in September 2026. It keeps Beam's compact form: 750 mm wide, 65 mm high and 105 mm deep. It comes in black or white and can stand on furniture or be wall-mounted.
Sonos lists nine drivers driven by nine Class-D amplifiers: a forward-firing mid tweeter for the center, two side-firing horn-loaded mid tweeters, two upward-firing tweeters for Dolby Atmos height, and four low-profile woofers.
The TV connects over HDMI eARC with the included HDMI cable; an optical adapter is sold separately. Wi-Fi 6 connects Beam Ultra to the home network for the Sonos app, AirPlay 2, Apple Music, Spotify and TIDAL, and Bluetooth 5.3 streams from any Bluetooth device. A USB-C port takes the Sonos Line-In Adapter for a 3.5 mm source or the Sonos Combo Adapter for wired Ethernet, both sold separately.
A far-field microphone array handles Sonos Voice Control, and a switch on the back cuts power to the microphones. The top has capacitive touch controls, and Beam Ultra works with the TV remote. In the Sonos app you can adjust bass, treble and loudness, choose one of four AI Speech Enhancement levels and turn on Night Sound.
What the specs mean
- 7.1.2 speaker setup: seven main channels, one bass channel and two height channels from the upward-firing tweeters, all from the single bar. A Sonos Sub, Sub Mini or Sub 4 adds a separate subwoofer, and a pair of Sonos speakers (One, One SL, Five, Era 100, Era 100 SL, Era 300) or IKEA Symfonisk Lamp (Gen 2) or Picture Frame speakers adds rear surrounds, all connected wirelessly.
- HDMI eARC: the enhanced Audio Return Channel carries the TV's sound to the soundbar over one HDMI cable, including high-bitrate formats such as Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos and uncompressed multichannel audio. It also lets the TV remote control Beam Ultra.
- Audio formats: Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, stereo PCM, multichannel PCM, Dolby Multichannel PCM and DTS Digital Surround. Sonos marks Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, multichannel PCM and Dolby Multichannel PCM as needing the HDMI eARC connection.
- No HDMI passthrough: Beam Ultra has no HDMI input, so a console or streaming box connects to the TV, and the TV sends the sound on to Beam Ultra over eARC.
- Room correction (Trueplay): Trueplay measures the room's acoustics and tunes the soundbar's EQ. For Beam Ultra, Sonos supports Trueplay tuning from both iOS and Android devices. If something sits on top of the soundbar, the Simulated Overhead Sound setting adjusts the height effects.

| Overall value A rough features-for-the-price score, compared with every soundbar listed. Bars gain points for things like Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi and room tuning, and lose points without them. Dolby Atmos with up-firing speakers earns more than virtual Atmos. Cheaper bars lose fewer points, or none, for missing premium extras (Dolby Atmos, HDMI eARC, up-firing speakers). 100 is the best deal listed. Based on specs only, not on how it sounds. | 85 | 65 | 65 |
| Price-band value Like Overall value, but each soundbar is compared only with soundbars in its own price band: up to $300, $300–500, $500–800, $800–1,200 or over $1,200. 100 is the best deal in that band. Based on specs only, not on how it sounds. | 85$500–800 | 65$500–800 | 65$500–800 |
