B450

Overview

HW-B450 is a black 2022 Samsung B-series soundbar with a wireless subwoofer in the box. The soundbar is 858.8 mm wide, 59 mm high and 75 mm deep and can be wall-mounted; the wall-mount brackets are included.

Samsung lists 3 speakers and 300 W of total power for the bar and subwoofer. The sound modes are Bass Boost, Surround Sound Expansion, Game, Adaptive Lite and Standard.

The TV connects over the optical input; an optical cable is in the box. There is also a USB port and Bluetooth. The bar has no HDMI connection and no Wi-Fi, so there is no app control, AirPlay or built-in voice assistant.

You can control it with the buttons on the bar, the included remote or the TV remote.

What the specs mean

• 2.1 speaker setup: two main channels (left and right) and one subwoofer channel, with no centre or height channels.
• Wireless rear speakers (optional): Samsung lists the SWA-9200S rear speaker kit as compatible. It connects wirelessly to the bar.
• Optical only, no HDMI: the TV's sound reaches the bar through an optical cable. Without HDMI there is no HDMI ARC or eARC and no HDMI passthrough, so consoles and streaming boxes connect to the TV.
• Audio formats: Dolby Digital, DTS and 2-channel LPCM.
