Overview
The True X Bar 90A (model SR-X90A) is Yamaha's flagship Dolby Atmos sound bar with a wireless subwoofer, without the surround speakers of the True X Surround 90A package. Its US product page was first archived in August 2025. The bar is 1180 mm wide, 85 mm high and 143 mm deep on its feet and can be wall-mounted with the included metal brackets.
Yamaha lists new eye-shaped front left, center and right drivers with dome tweeters, twelve 1-1/8-inch beam drivers for the height channels and a 6-3/4-inch driver in the subwoofer, which uses Yamaha's Symmetrical Flare Port.
The TV connects over HDMI eARC or optical, and an HDMI input takes a console or streaming box. Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth bring music through Yamaha's MusicCast platform, with Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2 and TIDAL Connect, and services such as Amazon Music, Pandora, SiriusXM, Deezer and Internet Radio. There is no built-in voice assistant. Yamaha lists Clear Voice, Bass Extension, Adaptive Volume for low-volume listening, Surround:AI and the sound modes 3D Music, Stereo, Straight and All.
You control the bar with its buttons, the included remote, the TV remote over HDMI-CEC, or the MusicCast Controller app. The box contains the bar, the subwoofer, the remote with batteries, power cords, mounting brackets and the guides.
What the specs mean
- Speaker setup not stated: Yamaha does not give a channel count for the Bar 90A, so the table lists it as not stated. The user guide's display shows front, center, height and subwoofer channels, plus surrounds when True X speakers are added.
- Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and AURO-3D: Dolby describes Atmos as sound that can be placed around and above you. Yamaha calls the 90A the first sound bar with AURO-3D, and the user guide also lists DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution, DTS-ES and DTS 96/24.
- Beam height channels: the bar aims sound beams from twelve small drivers at the ceiling, so the table counts it as up-firing.
- HDMI passthrough: the HDMI input passes 4K video at up to 60 Hz with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision, plus ALLM, and the user guide lists HDCP 2.3.
- HDMI eARC: HDMI.org describes eARC as the newer Audio Return Channel that carries high-bitrate formats from the TV to the bar.
- Expandable: Yamaha lists the True X Speaker 1A and True X Speaker 3A as optional wireless surround speakers.

|---|---|---|---|
| Overall value A rough features-for-the-price score, compared with every soundbar listed. Bars gain points for things like Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi and room tuning, and lose points without them. Dolby Atmos with up-firing speakers earns more than virtual Atmos. Cheaper bars lose fewer points, or none, for missing premium extras (Dolby Atmos, HDMI eARC, up-firing speakers). 100 is the best deal listed. Based on specs only, not on how it sounds. | 24 | 63 | 48 |
| Price-band value Like Overall value, but each soundbar is compared only with soundbars in its own price band: up to $300, $300–500, $500–800, $800–1,200 or over $1,200. 100 is the best deal in that band. Based on specs only, not on how it sounds. | 31over $1,200 | 79over $1,200 | 61over $1,200 |
